FAQ

General

Where does the name Le Picot come from?

Picot is a French family name. There was once a racing cyclist by the name of Fernand Picot. Also, picot is a crochet stitch, and the Spanish word “pico” means both a mountain peak and a kiss. All of these influences led us to our name: Le Picot!

Who is Le Picot?

We are a diverse team of designers, fashion specialists and marketers from both sides of the Atlantic. We are united by a vision for sustainable clothing and a need for stylish clothes for people on the move. We have offices in Switzerland and Spain.

How do we arrive at the Le Picot prices?

We make slow fashion. Our sustainable fashion is more expensive than fast fashion because all of our fabrics are organic, upcycled or recycled. As a result, the quality of our materials is higher even at the point where we purchase them. We manufacture small series of products and place great value on fair working conditions and remuneration throughout all of our design and production processes.

Sustainability

Where does Le Picot stand in terms of sustainability?

For us, sustainability is not an option, but an obligation towards future generations. This is why we strive to achieve best-in-class standards and an optimal ecological balance in all the areas in which we are active in the production and distribution of our garments: in the choice and processing of fibers and fabrics, the transport routes, the working conditions under which our garments are produced and the development perspectives that our activities create.

Where is Le Picot clothing produced?

We manufacture in small studios in Spain and Portugal. We have visited all of them personally and therefore know their production processes and conditions first-hand. Direct exchange with the people at our manufacturing sites is important to us and forms part of our vision.

Our partner Woolistic produces our products in small workshops in Europe and visits these regularly.

Why is Le Picot clothing not certified?

Because quality labels are only awarded if the entire value chain is certified, from the production of the fibres through to all processing and manufacturing steps. One example: Some of the garments we use are made of certified fabric. But we are not allowed to communicate this because the studio that produces our clothes is not certified – an effort that is not worthwhile for many small studios. So, certification has its advantages and disadvantages. But there are alternative ways to document responsible, sustainable production. We are not yet sure whether we will strive for certification in the long term or whether we want to take an alternative path.

Ultimately, we believe – and we vouch for this – that this attitude obliges us to do more than tick off the requirements of a certification body. Even though we don’t carry a sustainability label, Le Picot is committed to manufacturing sustainable products. Clothing made with respect for nature and under fair conditions.

Orders & Delivery

Which countries does Le Picot deliver to?

We deliver worldwide. Delivery to some countries may be subject to additional charges. Or practical or legal reasons may prevent us from delivering to certain countries. If this is the case, we will contact you to discuss how best to proceed.

How long should I allow for delivery?

Within Europe, you can expect Le Picot clothes to be delivered in 5–7 working days. Delivery to the USA takes approximately 6–8 working days. If we expect your delivery to take more than 5 working days, we will contact you.

Do I need an account to order from Le Picot?

You don’t need an account; you can complete your purchase as a guest.

Why do I need to provide my telephone number for opening an account?

We ask you for your telephone number so that courier services can contact you when they are about to deliver your parcel or have difficulties with or questions about your delivery. We don’t use your telephone number ourselves.

Are the products subject to customs duties?

We can’t answer this question on a general level. No customs duties currently apply within our main markets in Europe, and we hope that this won’t change.

Returns

How can I return a product?

If you wish to return items, they must be unused and in impeccable condition. Moreover, any accessories, documentation and original packaging also need to be returned. Please note that we have two sales warehouses. Customers in Switzerland can return their delivery within Switzerland, whereas customers from the rest of the world are asked to return goods to our warehouse in Spain.

Before returning items, please contact the following email address to discuss further steps: hello@lepicot.com

How long do I have to return goods?

You have up to 14 days to return Le Picot clothes, starting from the day you receive your delivery.

Why do I need to pay the return postage?

That’s a tricky question. Our position is as follows: On one hand, it’s fair if returns are straightforward and ideally free of charge in online retail. On the other, this invites rash consumption. That’s why even large retailers have started to move away from free returns. We are very much about responsible consumption, and our approach to returns reflects this stance. That’s why we encourage you to take your time when making a purchase. Feel free to ask us for advice.

When will I be reimbursed for the purchase price?

Reimbursements are processed as soon as we have received the returned item. Afterwards, banks need 3–5 working days as a rule.

The item I’ve received is defective – what can I do?

Each of our products is subject to stringent quality controls. However, if you believe that an item you’ve received is defective, please contact our customer service, and we’ll find the best way for you to exchange or return the product. If the product is demonstrably defective, Le Picot will of course cover the return postage.

I’ve been sent a different product from the one I ordered – what can I do?

We’re very sorry about that. If you’ve been sent the incorrect size or even an incorrect item, please contact our customer service, and we’ll work together to find a solution. If it was our mistake, we’ll cover the postage to make sure you get the correct item.

Please contact the following email address: hello@lepicot.com

Will I be notified when my return has been received?

The easiest option is for you to return items via a postal or courier service that provides you with a tracking number. Then you’ll know when your parcel has been delivered to us.
