The Giro d’Italia is back on the strade bianche

It’s this time of the year again when the world’s best racing cyclists meet in Italy to compete at the Giro d’Italia. The stage we from Le Picot look most forward to is the 11th course, leading from Perugia to Montalcino. During this flat stage, the cyclists will ride on a total of 35 kilometers of unpaved road, the so-called strade bianche.

The four sectors of gravel road lead through picturesque Tuscan hills reminding very much of the routes on which the famous vintage races of “L’Eroica” take place. So on May 19, when the Giro will pass the strade bianche, we will cheer our favorite riders and remember L’Eroica and the jerseys worn up to the seventies by the great Grand Tour riders likes of Fausto Coppi or Eddy Merckx. Suppose you are interested in wearing the original replica of Merckx’s Molteni race jersey or after race sweater. In that case, you find them together with some other legendary designs like the jerseys of Team Azzini or Caffé Giovannini, all made out of extra-fine Italian merino wool and decorated with rare chain stitches in our shop. Check them out. Merino wool jerseys are still the best to wear on your bike because the wool’s extra-fine fibers transport sweat quickly away from your skin, keep you cool in summer and warm in winter, and do not itch. The best: unlike polyester, merino wool is a regenerative fiber and never stinks!

Vai, vai, vinci!
